Good morning! We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend:) This week Ms. Loudon chose a book called Boxitects. In this story, the main character learns to be creative with her 'boxitect' skills, while also learning the importance of working with others. There are many fabulous building and creating ideas that you can read about and try in this story! After you have listened to the story, think about what you want to make. Happy Thursday everyone! We hope everyone is having a great week so far, it is nice to see some sunshine today! Miss. Moon is reading “The Most Magnificent Thing” and is using an app called Novel Effect. Let us know below if you enjoyed hearing the added effects! Here are some fun optional activities and remember to send us a picture of what you create!
1. Have you ever had a moment where you wanted to give up on something you were making? What happened? 2. She made a creation that smelled of stinky cheese! What would you want your creation to smell like? 3. Find some things around your house or outside (cardboard boxes, grass, twigs) and create something magnificent! Have fun and be creative! 2) Humpty Dumpty is a dynamic character in this story version. If you were able to interview him, what questions would you ask him? Try to think of 2-3 questions. 3) Draw or create your favourite part of the story. Use any materials that you have. How did you overcome your fear? You can talk, write, or draw your ideas. Hi everyone! To go along with this weeks theme, Miss. Moon will be reading "Ralph Tells a Story". We hope you are enjoying the week so far, and the nice weather we have had! Once you have listened to the story try some of these activities listed below. 1. Ralph doesn't know what to write about and he tries different things to avoid writing. Have you ever felt this way? Write a sentence describing how you felt and what you did.
2. Ralph is a great oral story teller! Do you enjoy telling your stories out loud or do you prefer to write them down? How come? 3. What is a favourite memory of yours? Draw and write about it! 4. Ralph was really brave when he read out loud. What's something brave that you've done? Good Morning Alexander Wolf Pack! Here is a new story to start off the week. This week's theme is about writing stories. We hope you enjoy listening to the story and thinking about your own ideas for writing stories. After you listen to the story there are some ideas for you to try: 1.Make your own Idea Jar! Which words will you add? Try to add at least 4 ideas. Draw or take a picture of your Idea Jar to show us 2.What 2 ideas would you choose from the Idea Jar? Write them in a sentence or draw a picture to show us your thinking. 3.The author tells us that there are many ways to make a story: writing, telling, drawing are a few examples. How will you choose to tell your story?
4.Ms. Loudon mixed up a character when she read the story…can you spot the mistake?? Hello everybody :) We are half way through this week already! Today is extra special because it's Wolf Pack Wednesday! Miss. Moon is joining Ms. Loudon with the art theme this week, and is reading you "A Day With No Crayons." Some optional activities to go along with the book: 1. We saw Liza create beautiful pieces of art without using crayons! Can you try to make an art piece using something other than crayons or markers? Try going outside to make something. 2. What are some other things at the park that Liza could have used to create art? 3. Where is your favourite place to colour or draw? 4. Do you have a favourite colour you like to use? This week we chose an art theme, with a challenge to think and be creative in your own artistic way. Here is another book read by Ms. Loudon. Listen to the story and then check out the activities below. Here are some activities to try after you listen to the story: 1) Think about your own artistic style...do you prefer to draw or color? What would you draw or color? Create a picture of your choice and send it to us. 2) The character created a self portrait...Can you create a self portrait and send it to us? (use any kind of art materials that you have or want to use) 3) The story showed how to create images using line and color. What can you create using lines? (remember the lines were thick, thin, squiggly, jagged) 4) The character thought he wasn't very good at drawing...can you think of something in art that is tricky for you and try to see if you can improve? (remember, we always improve when we keep trying!!) Please send us your art creations and we can post them on the student gallery page :) We look forward to seeing your creations! Miss Moon and Ms. Loudon have recorded some books with this theme in mind, and below you will find some fun optional activities that you can try at home! Some optional activities to go along with Michael Recycle! 1. Draw yourself as a recycling superhero! Make sure to give yourself a superhero name :) 2. We could hear some rhyming in this book! Can you identify some of the rhyming words? 3. Make your own Michael Recycle character board: Look at the example posted below for some ideas *example below, is courtesy of Jess Martin 4. Take a look at Michael's "Go Green Tips." Identify a few that you already do in your home AND think about one you would like to try! Intermediate option: In the book they started a "Be Greener Campaign".
