Hi Wolf Pack! This week has an exciting day and that is Earth Day! Earth Day is on Wednesday, April. 22nd. What is something that you are going to try to do on Earth Day? Miss. Moon is going to make sure she is turning off the lights in her house when she leaves each room! There is a new story read by Miss. Moon and it is about recycling! The story focuses on recycling aluminium, but there are many other things that can recycled at home. What are some things you recycle? Here are some optional activities you can do at home! Remember to send them to Miss. Moon :)
1. What was your favourite part of the book? Why did you like that part best? 2. What are some other things that you recycle in your house? 3. If you were an aluminum can at a recycling plant, what would you want to be made into? Draw a picture and show Miss. Moon! 4. What can you make out of old aluminum cans? Hello Alexander Elementary families! This week's story is called TIDY. It is written and illustrated by Emily Gravitt, and published by Two Hoots. This story is about a badger named Pete, who likes everything to be very neat and tidy, except that he goes overboard and causes some chaos in the forest that he lives in! Click the link below to listen to Ms. Loudon and to find out what happens to Pete and his forest friends. After you've listened to the story, scroll down to see some of the activities that you can choose to do if you want. If you're not able to do any of the activities, that's ok! They are extra activities only. If you do choose an activity, or two, please send me what you did! I hope you enjoy reading about Pete the badger! Here are some activities that you can do after reading along with the story. You can do as many as you want!!
1) Learn how to draw a badger. Click the link for step-by-instructions. https://www.theguardian.com/.../how-to-draw-a-badger...
2) Find out more about badgers here: https://www.sciencekids.co.nz/science.../animals/badger.html
3) Find rhyming words in the story. Can you think of other words that rhyme?
4) Pete dug up all of the trees in the forest! Think of some of the changes that have taken place in Pete’s forest. How would the forest be different?
5) Create an interview with Pete. What questions would you ask him? How might he respond? Or, interview the other forest animals to ask them what they think about Pete’s actions.
Don't forget to send Ms. Loudon some of your work if you can! You can send a message with any questions, ideas, or comments. Hi everyone! Welcome to the Library Learning Commons Blog Page! Ms. Loudon and Miss. Moon we be posting stories that we read aloud every week on this page. We are super excited to read to you, and we will both share at least one story every week. We've also created a LibraryLearningCommons Facebook page, with lots of links that you can follow if you have Facebook.
